The vicar hits the bottle!
When contractors started chipping out one of the plaques to be moved from underneath the east window they found an unexpected treasure. Site Manager, Andy Scroggs, presented the vicar,Tim Butlin, with a time capsule sealed into the wall in 1903 when the Victorian extension to St Peter's was built.
The sealed bottle contained a copy of the South Bucks Standard from Friday 30 October 1903, a copy of the parish magazine and various documents relating to the building project and a small bag of coins from that era.

The contents have been photographed for local and diocesan records. We replaced the capsule, and added contemporary articles, in the wall of the church during the Official Opening Service on 5 November 2006. It would be interesting to know what future generations will make of this.
