Money & Giving
All of the activities of the church are funded by the giving of its members. Neither the Church of England, nor the government provide financial support. In fact we subsidise the Church of England by paying what is called our "Parish Share."
We do not ask visitors for money. We do not even demand money with menaces from our members! However we are not afraid to point out that the level of activity we are able to undertake depends entirely on the financial and practical gifts we receive from our members.
The Bible sets out some principles on giving which all of us should follow as we manage our own finances and time. Giving regularly and proportionately to "the Lord's work" is something we should all do.
For those who pay income tax, use of Gift Aid will increase the value of any gift you make by 28% at no cost to the giver. Those paying higher rates of tax can also claim back 18% of the value of the gift. Please contact Jan Hill (our Gift Aid guru) or David Clarke (our Treasurer) if you need to know more. You can download a Gift Aid form or Standing Order form here.
David has produced a short paper on the mechanics of giving which may answer some of your questions.
